    Halo-Halo Event(B.S.P.Suita)

    On Monday, June 23rd, 2025, at 12:15, a “Halo-Halo Event” was held at IRIS, planned by a student from the Philippines and hosted by B.S.P. Suita.
    A total of 10 international students and 6 local students participated.
    Participants were introduced to halo-halo, a popular cold dessert from the Philippines made with crushed ice, sweet beans, fruits, and colorful toppings.
    They enjoyed assembling their own halo-halo, choosing ingredients according to their tastes.
    It was a refreshing and sweet experience, especially appreciated on a hot day.
    As they enjoyed the treat, participants had lively conversations, making it a joyful and culturally enriching event.

    TAMAGOYAKI&YAKIONIGIRI EVENT (B.S.P. Toyonaka)

    On Thursday, June 19th, 2025, at 12:15 p.m., the “TAMAGOYAKI&YAKIONIGIRI EVENT” organized by B.S.P. Toyonaka was held, with 7 international students and 10 local students participating. The participants learned how to make Japanese omelets (tamagoyaki) from B.S.P. members and rolled them skillfully. They enjoyed the omelets they had made, along with the grilled rice balls(yakionigiri)that had been prepared in advance. Through Japanese food culture, they engaged in lively conversations and had a great time interacting with one another.

    OKONOMIYAKI Party (B.S.P. Minoh)

    On Friday, June 13th, from 17:30, on the 5th floor of the Research and Education Hub, a cooking party titled “Making OKONOMIYAKI ” was held by B.S.P. Minoh.The number of participants was 10 international students and 10 local students.  They made two types of okonomiyaki: Osaka-style and Hiroshima-style. Even international students who had never made okonomiyaki before had a great time and enjoyed the tasty cultural exchange, thanks tothe clear and helpful instructions of the B.S.P. members.

    On Friday, May 30, the founding event of the African Students Association in Osaka (ASAO) was held at the IC Hall on the Suita Campus. ASAO aims to build a supportive network among African students at the University of Osaka and other universities across the Kansai region by fostering mutual support and sharing experiences related to academics, daily life, culture, and career development.

    The event featured speeches by Mr. Ajak E.A. Garang, one of the co-founders, and Mr. Michel-Meekman B. Ausse, the current president. It also included a lively African dance session with participation from attendees, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout.

    Going forward, ASAO will continue to connect current African students and alumni, organize events that celebrate Africas rich diversity, and promote intercultural exchange to share Africas positive imageserving as a cultural bridge between Africa and Japan. Anyone interested in joining future activities is warmly welcomed.

    Origami Event (B.S.P. Toyonaka)

    On Monday, June 9th, 2025, at 12:15 p.m., the “Origami Event” organized by B.S.P. Toyonaka was held, with 1 international student and 4 local students participating. Using colorful origami paper, the participants folded seasonal designs inspired by the rainy season—frogs, hydrangeas, umbrellas, and butterflies. They concentrated on their folding, chatted about their creations, and had a good time interacting with each other through origami.

    Spanish Language Cafe (OUISA)

    On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, starting at 12:10, a Spanish Language Cafe organized by OUISA was held at IRIS, with 9 international students participating.

    This time, the participants seemed to have a high level of Spanish proficiency. Rather than playing games, they chose specific topics and engaged in lively discussions, such as self-introductions, reasons for coming to Japan, and how people from other countries could effectively learn their native languages.

    Kansai Dialect Café

    On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 12:15 p.m., the “Kansai Dialect Café” organized by B.S.P. Suita was held at IRIS.

    A total of 15 participants joined the event, including 8 international students and 7 local students.

    Under the friendly and attentive guidance of B.S.P. members from Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo,

    participants enjoyed learning the unique features and basic phrases of the Kansai dialect.

    There were many moments of surprise and laughter as they discovered subtle differences in intonation, expressions, and pronunciation across different regions.

    In a warm and cheerful atmosphere, participants fully enjoyed the fun of speaking Kansai dialect and the excitement of experiencing a new aspect of Japanese culture.

    World Snacks Party (B.S.P. Toyonaka)

    On Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 12:15 p.m., the “World Snacks Party” organized by B.S.P. Toyonaka was held, with 8 international students and 10 local students participating. The event began with B.S.P. members introducing various sweets from around the world that they had prepared in advance. As participants enjoyed the treats, conversations naturally began to flow. Some participants also brought and introduced their favorite sweets. It was a delightful time, with conversations sparked by the shared enjoyment of sweets.

    Sports Festival 2025(OUISA)

    On Saturday, June 7th, the “Sports Festival 2025” organized by OUISA was held at the gymnasium on the Suita Campus. A total of 25 international students and 5 local students participated. 

    Participants mainly challenged themselves through various ball sports such as futsal, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton.

    While working up a good sweat, they also had a great time interacting with one another.

    Gyoza Making Event

    On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at 12:15, a “Gyoza Making Event” was held at IRIS, hosted by B.S.P. Suita.

    A total of 15 international students and 8 local students participated.

    Two types of fillings—chicken and potato—were prepared, and participants wrapped the gyoza by hand.

    For many participants, it was their first time making gyoza.

    They enjoyed trying out different folding styles and shapes in their own creative ways.

    While enjoying the delicious gyoza they had made, participants actively interacted with one another,

    making it a fun and engaging cultural exchange event.

    May 24th (Sat.), 2025,10:00- “One-day trip ~Nunobiki Herb Gardens~” was held by B.S.P.Toyonaka. The number of participants was 11 international students and 4 local students. Unfortunately, it was raining, but they took the cable car to the herb gardens and strolled through it. After that, they had lunch together and enjoyed a day in Kobe.

    Japanese Calligraphy Workshop (B.S.P. Minoh)

    On May 26th (Mon.), “Japanese Calligraphy Workshop” was held by Minoh B.S.P. at. 5th Fl., Minoh Branch. The number of participants was 11 international students and 4 local students. After B.S.P. members explained the basics of calligraphy to the international students, the participants selected kanji characters of their choice and carefully writing each on.

    A one-day trip to a disaster simulation experience ( B.S.P. Minoh)

    On May 25th (Sat.), B.S.P. Minoh organized a one-day trip to the Osaka city ABENO life safety learning center. A total of 19 students participated, including 15 international and 4 local students. They learned how to stay safe during various disasters, experienced what a magnitude 7 earthquake feels like, and found it to be a very valuable experience.

    Dagashi Snack Event (B.S.P. Suita)

    On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 12:15 p.m., B.S.P. Suita held a “Dagashi Snack Event” at IRIS,

    with 13 international students and 10 local students participating.Participants enjoyed a variety of traditional Japanese snacks while chatting in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

    For many international students, it was their first time trying dagashi, and they were intrigued by the unique flavors and appearance.

    The event sparked conversations not only about Japanese snack culture but also about similar treats from around the world.

    It was a casual yet meaningful opportunity for cross-cultural exchange.

    Day Trip to Katsuo-ji Temple (B.S.P. Suita)

    On Sunday, May 25, 2025, B.S.P. Suita held a “Day Trip to Katsuo-ji Temple,” with the participation of 11 international students and 7 local students.

    Surrounded by fresh greenery, participants enjoyed strolling through the temple grounds,

    taking in the unique scenery filled with countless Daruma dolls and the peaceful atmosphere typical of a traditional Japanese temple.

    It was a meaningful and enjoyable day, offering a chance to experience both nature and culture.

    On Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM, OUISA held the “Hiking Trip to Nara,” with 21 international students and 2 local students participating. Blessed with beautiful weather, the group enjoyed interacting with the deer of Nara, shared delicious meals, and had a pleasant and relaxing hike together.

    Calligraphy Event (B.S.P. Toyonaka)

    May 12th (Mon.), 2025,12:15- A “Calligraphy Event” organized by B.S.P. Toyonaka was held, with 10 international students and 8 local students participating. B.S.P. members explained the basics of calligraphy to the international students, many of whom were experiencing it for the first time. Each student chose and wrote a word of their own. It was a great opportunity for the international students to experience Japanese culture, and a chance for the local students to practice calligraphy again after a while.

    Takoyaki Making Event

    On May 13th (Tue.), 2025, at 12:15, a “Takoyaki Making Event” was held at IRIS, hosted by B.S.P. Suita.

    A total of 8 international students and 16 local students participated.

    Divided into three groups, they enjoyed making original takoyaki using ingredients such as octopus, mochi, and sausage.

    Many participants were making takoyaki for the first time.

    With unique and creative ingredients, everyone had fun experimenting with flavors.

    The event offered a great opportunity to experience Osaka’s food culture and deepen international exchange.

A warm and fun welcome party was held where students enjoyed interacting with each other through games played by international and local students.

    April 25th (Fri.), 2025,17:30- “Welcome Party” was held at Assembly Hall by Toyonaka B.S.P. The number of participants was 50 international students and 36 local students. The party started with a bingo game, followed by a variety of quizzes. And this time, there were booths for bean-catching, beer pong, Jenga, and other games, and participants had time to interact with each other while enjoying their favorite games. Through quizzes and games, the conversation naturally became lively, and it was a very good opportunity for exchange, full of smiles.

    Melon Bread Making(B.S.P. Minoh)

    On April 24th (Thu.),  Making Melon Bread class was held by Minoh B.S.P. at 5th Fl., Minoh Branch. The number of participants was 15 international students and 3 local students.The international student who is good at bread baking led the class. The dough was prepared during the lunch break, left to ferment in during afternoon classes, and baked in the evening. It was a fun and memorable day, with participants cheering as they baked authentic and delicious melon bread.

    On April 22nd (Tue.), 2025, at 12:15, B.S.P. Suita hosted a “Card Game Gathering in Suita” at IRIS.

    9 international students and 5 local students participated. 

     

    Participants enjoyed deepening their friendships through fun card games like Sevens and Concentration.

    IRIS was filled with laughter and the playful frustration of those who lost.

    Even after the games ended, everyone kept chatting, and the excitement lingered.

    Welcome Event – B.S.P. Suita

    On Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m., B.S.P. Suita hosted a "Welcome Event" at the IC Hall on the Suita Campus.

    The event was attended by 37 international students and 16 local students.

     

    Participants were divided into groups and enjoyed games and quizzes together,

    creating a cheerful and friendly atmosphere.

    Even those meeting for the first time naturally began conversations, and after the event,

    many students continued chatting and were already making new friends.

    On April 5th (Sat.), 12:30-, “Hanami & Picnic” was held by Minoh B.S.P. It was a perfect day for cherry blossom viewing. The participants were 19 international students and 9 local students. They enjoyed walking around the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park,chatting, playing frisbee and badminton etc. It was a great opportunity to make friends with each other including new international students.

    April 9th (Wed.), 2025, 12:00-, a campus tour was held at the Suita Campus, organized by OUISA and B.S.P. Suita.

    The number of participants was 29 international students and 3 local students.

    Senior student volunteers guided the newly arrived international students around useful and important locations on the Suita Campus and enjoyed lunch together with the participants.

     

    The volunteer students kindly answered participants’ questions while showing them around the campus.

    The tour was filled with lively conversations and served as a great opportunity for students to connect and deepen their interactions.

    A consultation session organized by OUISA and B.S.P. Suita was held at IRIS on Monday, April 7, 2025, starting at 14:30. A total of 10 international students and 2 local students participated.

    The OUISA and B.S.P. Suita members introduced their activities and answered various questions from the participants, including those about the Inter-Campus Shuttle Bus Service

     and classes. After the Q&A session, the participants enjoyed a relaxed time connecting with one another, making it a valuable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

    The language Café was held by B.S.P. Minoh for this semester.From October to January, it was 57 cafés in 16 different languages, with the total participation of 351 international students and 250 local students.     On January 23rd (Thu.), 2025, from 12:15 PM, "Traditional Play Event" was held by B.S.P. Suita at IRIS.

    January 22nd (Wed.), 2025, 12:15- “Japanese Cafe”, the last one of this semester, was held by B.S.P.Toyonaka at Toyonaka Branch. They got to interact with students from various countries/regions, faculties, and grades in Japanese Café. The cafes were always lively and enjoyable events. In addition to Japanese cafe, they enjoyed writing farewell messages, today.

    Gyoza (dumplings) making event (OUISA)

    On Thursday, January 16, 2025, OUISA hosted a Gyoza making event at IRIS from 12:00 pm. Nine international students participated. Participants wrapped ingredients in gyoza skin, baked them on a hot plate, and enjoyed freshly baked gyoza together. The authentic gyoza with feathers were made, and it was a very tasty and enjoyable exchange.

    Kansai Dialect Café

    January 16th (Thu.), 2025, 12:15 – A “Kansai Dialect Café” was held by B.S.P. Suita at IRIS.

    The event welcomed 10 international students and 2 local students as participants.

    Under the friendly guidance of the B.S.P. members, participants learned the unique features and basic phrases of Kansai dialect.

    They also practiced the dialect’s distinctive intonation, often laughing out loud at surprising differences or humorous mispronunciations.

    In a cheerful and lively atmosphere, participants enjoyed the fun of conversing in Kansai dialect while experiencing a new cultural perspective.

    Calligraphy Event

    January 15th (Wed.), 2025, 12:15 – A “Calligraphy Event” was held by B.S.P. Suita at IRIS.

    The event welcomed 10 international students and 6 local students as participants.

    Under the thoughtful guidance of the B.S.P. members, participants learned the proper use of brushes and fundamental calligraphy techniques.

    They eagerly participated, enjoying the process of expressing their names and New Year’s aspirations in Kanji.

    New Year Event Week (B.S.P. Toyonaka)

    January 6th (Mon.) ~9th (Thu.), “New Year Event Week ~Karuta Event, Kakizome (Japanese Callirgaphy), Japanese Café, Ozoni Event~” was held by B.S.P.Toyonaka at Toyonaka Branch. The number of participants was 37 international students and 22 local students, in total. At the beginning, B.S.P. member explained how to write Japanese calligraphy, and then participants enjoyed writing their favorite words in Kakizome Event. In Ozoni Event, participants had a great time while eating Ozoni with white miso soup prepared by B.S.P. member. They got to interact with topics such as New Year’s Day, New Year’s dish and so on in Japanese Café.

    Mochi Cooking Event (B.S.P. Suita)

    On January 9th, 2025, at 12:15 PM, B.S.P. Suita hosted a "Mochi Cooking Event" at IRIS.

    7 international students and 6 local students participated, using a hot plate to grill slices of mochi.

    Participants enjoyed adjusting the grilling time to their liking and savored the fragrant aroma as the mochi cooked.

    They also enjoyed customizing their grilled mochi with toppings like soy sauce, kinako, and red bean paste, creating their own unique flavors.

    The delicious scent of grilling mochi filled IRIS, and everyone enjoyed eating together, deepening connections in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The number of participants was 12 international students and 9 local students. The international students experienced the traditional event of Japanese New Year, and they had a good time.

    December 26th (Thu.), 2024, 12:15- “Soba Event” was held by B.S.P.Toyonaka at Toyonaka Branch. The number of participants was 4 international students and 11 local students. They enjoyed eating soba (buckwheat noodles) topped with seaweed, green onion, fish cake and freshly made bonito broth. The event was a great opportunity for them.

    On Tuesday, December 24th, at 12:15 PM, the final Language Café (Japanese Café) of this semester was held by B.S.P. Suita at IRIS.

    This semester, a total of 11 sessions were conducted from October to December, with 77 international students and 41 local students participating.

    It was a great opportunity for participants to make new friends.

    The Language Café will continue in the Spring-Summer semester of 2025.
