IRIS Letter No.9 Special issue “Osaka 8.8million drill” (2023.8.31)
“Osaka 8.8 million drill” will be conducted at 13:30 on Friday, September 1 (tomorrow).
The drill is for each individual in Osaka to think, act, and reaffirm actions to take in advance of disasters.
On the day of drill, area-specific emails and emergency alerts will be sent．

The emergency alerts have been actually sent when evacuation advisories were issued for certain areas during heavy rains and typhoons in the past. Many people were surprised by the sudden alerts, not understanding their contents.
This is to let you know that you will be receiving the same kind of emergency alerts on September 1.
You should also be aware that in the future, similar alerts may be sent to you if you are in or near an area in emergency, such as in an earthquake or disastrous weathers.
