Course Objective
   Intercultural Communication and Performance (Spring)

Learning Goals
   In this class students will develop an understanding of intercultural communication studies. Though groupworks and workshops students will gain experience in a variety of communication styles and think about diversity in communication. During the spring semester you will focus on problems in intercultural relationships that can be compared with our own personal networks. At the end of the class this will be demonstrated in performances. In the process of creating a performance you will think about comprehensive skills for communication.

Requirements / Prerequisite
   1. You will develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of intercultural communication.
   2. Through interaction with students of various backgrounds you will consider the different meanings of communication.
   3. Through workshops you will learn aspects of communication design.
   4. In the process of creating a performance you will develop an understanding of the basic problems in expression.
   5. Through communication you will learn to negotiate with different sets of values, better preparing you for a future in an increasingly global society.

Special Note
   Students are not required to have experiences of performance. In addition to students who are interested in intercultural communication and performance, Japanese students who wish to study in English are also welcomed.
