Special Lecture (Topics in Comparative Contract and Tort Law)

Cource Objective
   The objective of this course is to introduce students to the Anglo-American law of contracts and torts. In addition, students will learn to apply Anglo-American style legal reasoning and problem-solving techniques.

Requirement / Prerequisite
   There are no prerequisites for the course. It is open to undergraduate students of the Faculty of Law, graduate students of the Graduate School of Law and Politics, students of the Law School, and students of OSIPP. The course will be taught in English.

Course Content
   In the area of contracts, there will be lectures and discussion on the requirements for a legal contract, offer and acceptance, capacity to contract, legality of contract, mistake, misrepresentation and fraud, remedies, damages, specific performance and injunctions.
   In the area of torts, there will be lectures and discussion on intentional torts, assault, battery, false imprisonment, defamation, negligence, strict liability and defenses.

   To be provided in class.

Grading Policy
   Participation 25%, midterm exam 25%, final exam 50%.
