Topics in Comparative Law

Objective
   The objective of this course is to introduce students to the Canadian legal system. Topics to be covered include constitutional, criminal and civil law. In addition, students will learn and apply Anglo-American legal reasoning and problem-solving techniques.

Requirement / Prerequisite
   The course will be taught mainly in English.

Course Content
   The first part of the course examines sources of law and the evolution of the Canadian Constitution. Following a discussion of the judicial structure, students will be introduced to civil and criminal law and procedure. Illustrative cases and legal problem-solving exercises will be interspersed with lectures and discussion.
