OSAKA UNIVERSITY SHORT-TERM STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM _

Current Topics in Modern Physics

Yasuo NOZUE (School of Science)

Objective
Introduction to the current topics in modern physics by four lecturers

Course Outline
Four lecturers will present topics in the physics of the universe, nuclei, and quantum mechanics, condensed matter. Elementary particles, such as electrons, protons, and neutrons, have each mass, charge (except for neutrons) and spin (the smallest magnet). Protons and neutrons combine to make nuclei, and become atoms with electrons. Atoms have the mutual interaction to form different crystals or condensed matter. We will try to understand why materials exist in the universe or why crystals show superconductivity or ferromagnetism, etc.
