Japanese Song and Poem, Ancient and Modern

Objective
  In this course students are encouraged to read Japanese ancient poems and learn modern songs from the Meiji Era downward. Topics to be discussed will include: One Hundred Poems by one hundred Poet: A Collection of One Hundred Waka Poems (Hyakunin-isshu), Japanese Nursery Songs, and Songs designated by the Ministry of Education of the Meiji Era.
