Introduction to Pharamaceutical Sciences

Objective
  Pharmaceutical sciences aim at health and welfare of human being through drugs. This course provides an introduction to pharmaceutical sciences from chemical, biological and environmental perspectives and includes a review of recent advances in Japan. This course consists of lectures, demonstration of experiments and discussions with teachers and graduate students.

  1: Introduction
  2: Molecular Pharmaceutical Sciences (Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bio-functional Molecular Biology)
  3: Applied Biopharmaceutical Sciences (Immunology, Toxicology, Molecular Neuropharmacology, Natural Product Chemistry)
  4: Environmental Pharmaceutical Sciences (Environmental Science and Microbiology, Environmental Biochemistry)
  5: Demonstration of some experiments on pharmaceutical sciences

Textbooks
  No particular textbook is used, but some materials will be given out in class.

Grading
  The course grade will be based on a term paper to be submitted at the end of the course (60%)
  Class participation & discussion (40%).
