Objective
Japan has achieved the longest life expectancy in the world along with socioeconomic
development, mainly due to reduction of acute and chronic infectious diseases
and cardiovascular diseases. However, the most rapid aging of our society casts
new health and medical problems. This course will provide an overview of health
service and medical care, and highlight of their success and unsolved problems
in health promotion and medical care.

Field Works
Visits to institutions of health service and medical care are scheduled to help
students understand real aspects of these activities in a community. Institutions
will be hospitals, public health centers, community health centers, and health
