INTRODUCTION TO MOLECULAR SCIENCE
- CHEMISTRY AND HUMAN LIFE -

Masakatsu NOMURA, Yoshihisa INOUE, Akio BABA, Nobuaki KAMBE, Hideo KUROSAWA, and Genetsu MATSUBAYASHI (Faculty of Engineering)

Objective
How many different kinds of things can you see around you? Maybe, too many to count. Then, broaden your vision and imagine how they can be made. Most of the things we use in our daily life are very different form the materials of natural states. Is there any order or simplicity in the makeup of matter? The science of chemistry addresses this fundamental question. Life itself involves a very intricate sequence of chemical changes of matter. Chemistry would also contribute a lot to solving the global problems of vital importance with which we are confronted, such as our environment, food, resources, energies, and diseases etc., by way of controlling chemical reactions. This course is focused on several important topics of chemistry that relate closely to the human life and society.
