5. HOW DO I GET FINANCIAL AID?

Prospective OUSSEP students are eligible to apply for the following scholarship offered by the Association of International Education, Japan (AIEJ). However, those who receive financial aid from other sources, worth 80,000 Japanese yens or more, are not eligible to apply for the scholarship from AIEJ. Nearly all the students admitted to OUSSEP in previous academic years were granted the scholarships. We naturally welcome students who are prepared to come to OUSSEP without applying for the AIEJ scholarship. The total number of students OUSSEP can admit, however, will remain at around 30 regardless of the number of students to whom AIEJ grants scholarships.

We request applicants to refrain from applying for AIEJ scholarships concurrently with other Japanese universities.

AIEJ Short-term Student Exchange Promotion Program (Inbound) Scholarship

Qualified students selected by AIEJ are provided with the following financial aid.

1. A monthly stipend of 80,000 yen
OUSSEP students will receive the stipend for the months they spend in Japan.
2. An economy class single journey air ticket* when coming to and leaving Japan (between the international airports nearest to the home and host universities)
3. Settling-in allowance of 25,000 yen
* AIEJ will not cover any tax included in the airfare and payable to the government of a foreign country. The students will be asked to pay that amount, if any, after they arrive at Osaka.

Tuition Waiver

The tuition fee for the OUSSEP courses is currently 13,800 yen per credit. The fee is liable to change without notice. Students from institutions that have concluded a mutual tuition waiver contract with Osaka University will be granted a tuition waiver.
